Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 2011 is a fine white wine from the village of Meursault, located in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, France. The domaine is particularly known for its high quality Chardonnay production, producing highly acclaimed wines thanks to sustainable farming practices and precision winemaking techniques.
Characteristics and taste
- Grape variety : 100% Chardonnay
- Ageing : Meursault 2011 is aged in French oak barrels, the proportion of new oak depending on the philosophy of the Domaine and the characteristics of the vintage, but usually adjusted to give a subtle oakiness. Ageing usually lasts between 12 and 18 months.
- Taste : The 2011 Meursault is fruity, with particular emphasis on apple, pear and citrus notes. Ageing adds complexity with minerality and subtle oak notes of nuts and toast.
- Texture : Creamy and balanced on the palate with crisp, persistent acidity.
How to enjoy
- Temperature : The optimum drinking temperature is 10°C to 12°C. This temperature range allows the wine's delicate flavours and aromas to be properly expressed.
- Decanting : A little decanting (exposing to air) is sometimes recommended, but it depends on the condition of the wine and personal preference. Decanting allows the wine's aromas to open up and become more fully developed.
Drinking scene
The 2011 Meursault is perfectly suited to elegant meals, especially with seafood, dishes with cream sauces or light poultry dishes, and also with mature hard cheeses.
Storage and ageing potential
If properly stored, this vintage of Meursault can age for several more years, during which time the flavours will deepen, ideally in a good wine cellar, where temperature and humidity should be kept constant.
