"Single Malt Nagahama Sherry Hogshead for Kanpai-kai" is a single malt whiskey aged in sherry hogshead barrels specially selected by Nagahama Distillery in Shiga Prefecture. This limited edition bottle was released for the members-only organization "Kanpai-kai", which was founded in 2022 by whiskey enthusiast Tei Chung. The label is based on the inspiration that Tei got from tasting, "a woman wearing a twelve-layered kimono and cherry blossoms in full bloom", and features a motif of a female writer from the Heian period with ties to Shiga Prefecture. The special size of 500ml and the high alcohol content of 53.7% highlight the strong personality of this whiskey.

scent
The top notes are of dates, dried prunes, a hint of cherry syrup, and black tea tannins. In addition, the woody, rich aroma of dark fruits, some spices, and incense spreads, reminiscent of a sherry cask-aged store.

Taste
The texture is thick and viscous. The sweetness of the dark fruit spreads first, followed by a fragrant and bitter flavor. The boiled flavor reminiscent of wheat chocolate and cocoa powder spreads in the mouth, allowing you to enjoy a rich taste.

Remaining rhymes
The rhymes are very warm and long-lasting, with full-bodied sweetness and woody flavors from the sherry casks lingering as rhymes, leaving you with a satisfying finish.

Features
Based on inspiration from Tei, this whiskey features a label with a motif of a female writer from the Heian period. Despite only being aged for four years, the whiskey has a rich and complex flavor strongly influenced by the sherry hogsheads. The raw liquor was aged in a warm environment at the AZAI FACTORY, a converted abandoned school, and is a special bottle with a wonderful balance of strength from the character of the barrel and the power of the malt.
