The second release of the "NIKKA DISCOVERY Series" commemorating the 90th anniversary of Nikka Whisky's founding is "Single Malt Yoichi Aromatic Yeast". This special bottle takes advantage of the strength of Yoichi malt, which is produced by direct coal distillation, while adding a gorgeous aroma reminiscent of ginjo aroma. This single malt whiskey, created by Nikka Whisky's innovative fermentation technology, is an exquisite balance of fruity and smoky flavors.

Fruity aromas of apple and banana are layered with ginjo aromas reminiscent of pear. The smoky peat in the background creates a deep aroma.

Taste

The strong flavor unique to Yoichi malt is balanced with the sweetness of fresh fruit and the richness of malt. You can feel the presence of peat in this well-balanced flavor.

Aftertaste

It has a pleasant sweetness and a marmalade-like bitterness with a sweet nuance that lasts for a long time.

About Yoichi Distillery

Nikka Whisky's first distillery was established in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru in Yoichi, Hokkaido. The distillery continues to adhere to the traditional method of direct coal-fired distillation, producing strong, distinctive single malts. Yoichi's harsh natural environment is ideal for aging, and produces whiskey unique to the region. The distillery is also highly regarded both in Japan and overseas as a place that embodies the "ideal whiskey" that Taketsuru sought.
